What Makes a Good Petiquette Trainer?

Excellent question! The answer really has three parts, and it’s our pleasure to answer all of them for you. If you have other questions, please send them along. We’ll answer you promptly.

What qualities will make you a good dog trainer?

  • A good trainer sincerely loves and respects pet dogs.
  • A good trainer uses only humane training techniques. (The best trainers use The Burwell Method™, of course.)
  • A good trainer delivers what he or she promises.
  • A good trainer is punctual, ethical and fair.
  • A good trainer resists talking about him/herself, and instead focuses attention on the pet and owner, asks pertinent questions to get to any and every problem, and can address each challenge without allowing personal attitudes and expectations to interfere.
  • A good trainer is a people person, able to communicate well with the client. Being sensitive to the client’s feelings allows a good trainer to know the owner’s emotional commitment, while at the same time gather useful information about how the owner’s feelings affect his or her dog’s behavior.
  • A good trainer follows up with each client with a genuine concern.
  • A good trainer gets personal gratification from training well done.

What additional qualities are Petiquette and Jim Burwell
looking for in a franchisee?

  • A desire to create a successful and satisfying career path from a love of and a passion for dogs.
  • A desire for an exciting opportunity to be in charge of your own destiny.
  • Patience for training dogs coupled with excellent people skills.
  • A motivated, “self-starter” work ethic.
  • A sound, reliable business sense.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Sales and marketing skills.
  • A strong affinity for teamwork in building a successful partnership with the Petiquette organization.

What type of investment is required to become a
Petiquette franchisee?

  • Investments come in two types. The first type is money. The initial franchise fee is $ 25,000. The investment range is $67,450 to $72,200 (includes franchise fee, training fee and his or her protected territory).
  • The second type of investment is  time. Jim Burwell personally trains each and every Petiquette Franchisee. The  comprehensive training program teaches the skill sets of dog training,  counseling pet owners on behavioral problems in dogs, and starting and running  a business, and requires two weeks of  formal academic in-home study, as well as four weeks of “in-the-field”  internship, working alongside Houston’s most acclaimed dog trainer.

Do you hear “opportunity barking”? We hope so. Learning more is easy and carries no obligation. We welcome your interest. Please Contact Us either by phone or email.
